What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math Instructor position at Fond du Lac Reservation?
- Responsibilities: Uses best practice to instruct students and adapt mathematical material that provides relevant sequential assignments which guide and challenges students.
- Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids that suit the interest and maturity levels of students and maintains required inventory records.
Adapts the curriculum to provide individual, small group, or remedial instruction to meet the needs of the individual student.
Develop and designs learning activities that will relate mathematics to the physical world.
Encourages students to think independently and express original ideas.
Evaluate each student’s progress in mathematical knowledge and skills.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly productive classroom environment.
Communicates in an appropriate manner with parents/guardians and school counselors on student progress.
Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives and prepares material for lessons in a timely manner.
Maintains accurate daily records of student performance, attendance, and periodic grades.
Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities, and other professional developmental programs or activities.
Actively advocate and demonstrate appropriate adult child interactions.
Demonstrates care, kindness and restorative practice with our students and colleagues.
Maintains a professional and collaborative relationship with all staff and community members.
Maintains professional standards toward creating confidential relationships with all program participants and staff.
Participate in all staff meetings as directed.
Routine classroom cleaning/maintenance to ensure a safe, clean, and secure learning environment for all students.
Provides weekly lesson plans to the building principal that incorporate the Minnesota State Standards.
Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
Bachelors’ Degree in Math and appropriate Minnesota certification is required.
OR
When the applicant does not have the required degree with appropriate Minnesota certification, the applicant does have a Minnesota teaching License that could qualify for an Out-Of-Field-Permission. The school, once it is determined the Minnesota Licensure is appropriate for this option, will apply for the Out-of-Field Permission through the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board. This may allow a teacher to teach outside of their licensure field.
Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, databases and/or data entry, spreadsheets and Microsoft Outlook is required.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
