We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the firm’s accounting operations and financial reporting across multiple offices. This role is critical to maintaining financial integrity, supporting firm leadership with accurate reporting and analysis, and ensuring compliance with legal-industry accounting requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong professional-services experience, preferably within a law firm or multi-office environment. This position is hybrid, with training and regular team meetings occurring in person.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, and monthly close
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for firm leadership
- Manage firm-wide revenue recognition in coordination with attorneys and billing team
- Ensure compliance with trust/IOLTA accounting rules and applicable state bar requirements
- Monitor cash flow, partner distributions, capital accounts
- Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and work with external auditors and tax advisors
- Develop, document, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for strategic planning
- Supervise and mentor staff; manage workflow and performance
- Lead or support accounting system enhancements and process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience; law firm or professional services experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience with legal billing systems and multi-office accounting environments
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting software
- Ability to manage confidential information and work effectively with attorneys and firm leadership
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

Salary : $115,000 - $135,000
