Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Addiction Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough client assessments to determine substance use severity, mental health status, and co-occurring disorders, ensuring accurate diagnostic evaluation in line with DSM-5 standards.
• Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based practices tailored to individual needs.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health support, and relapse prevention strategies.
• Implement crisis intervention techniques and manage emergency situations with professionalism and sensitivity, ensuring client safety at all times.
• Maintain detailed clinical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations, medical documentation standards, and electronic health records (EHR/EHR) management protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including social workers, medical professionals, and community organizations—to coordinate comprehensive care and case management.
• Engage in ongoing research and professional development activities to stay current with advances in addiction medicine, behavioral health, and trauma-informed care.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or a related field; licensure or certification as an Addiction Counselor (e.g., CADC or equivalent) preferred.
• Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions in clinical settings such as hospitals or community clinics.
• Strong knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and behavioral health treatment modalities.
• Proficiency in clinical documentation standards, medical terminology, EMR/EHR systems, and maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
• Skilled in crisis management, client assessment in therapy settings, motivational interviewing techniques, and behavioral management strategies.
• Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds and providing culturally competent care is highly valued.
• Excellent communication skills for client engagement, case management coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
