Position Overview

Flynn Construction Management is seeking a Business Development & Sales Manager with experience in commercial construction or construction‑adjacent industries to support growth across our national general contracting operations. This role is responsible for developing and executing business development, sales, and marketing strategies that align with Flynn’s capabilities, project delivery standards, and long‑term growth objectives.

This position works closely with estimating, preconstruction, operations, and executive leadership to pursue projects that are well‑aligned with Flynn’s expertise, capacity, and strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute sales strategies, forecasts, and pricing recommendations to support revenue growth and long‑term market share.
  • Build, maintain, and grow relationships with key clients, strategic partners, and industry influencers.
  • Lead client meetings, negotiate terms, and close new business opportunities.
  • Direct sales forecasting activities and establish performance goals, territories, and quotas.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and association meetings.

Marketing, Branding & Market Strategy

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Oversee branding initiatives, advertising campaigns, digital marketing, and social media strategies.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market conditions to inform strategy adjustments.
  • Guide market research efforts and identify new markets and industries for growth.
  • Ensure a consistent corporate image across all marketing materials, platforms, and events.

Strategy, Reporting & Budget Management

  • Develop and manage sales and marketing budgets, monitoring expenditures to remain within targets.
  • Analyze sales performance against plans, quotes, and programs to assess effectiveness.
  • Prepare and present sales, marketing, and performance reports to executive leadership.
  • Track sales volume, pipeline activity, and potential areas for client base expansion.

Proposals, RFPs & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Review RFPs and RFQs; prepare, draft, and proof proposal responses for submission.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to support sales efforts and technical documentation needs.
  • Assist with the preparation of manuals and technical publications as required.
  • Support ongoing industry research and business development initiatives.

Leadership & Development

  • Direct staffing, training, and performance evaluation related to sales and marketing functions.
  • Foster a collaborative, high‑energy team environment focused on growth and results.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Professional office environment using standard office equipment.
  • Primarily sedentary; must be able to transport marketing materials (up to 50 lbs.) for trade shows and events.

Schedule & Availability

  • Full‑time role, typically requiring 50 hours per week.
  • Availability outside standard business hours is expected to support client needs, travel, and project demands.

Travel

  • Local travel during the business day is common.
  • Occasional out‑of‑area and overnight travel for trade shows and events.
  • Estimated travel: 10–30%, depending on projects and business needs.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in business development, sales, marketing, or industry‑specific growth roles.
  • Experience with proposal development, market analysis, and client engagement preferred.
