The Estimator Role
As a Construction Estimator at Flynn, you’ll lead the estimating process from initial review through final bid submission. You’ll work closely with project management, field teams, and subcontractors to develop accurate pricing, define project scope, and ensure bids are complete and competitive.
Because much of our work is repeatable, our estimators benefit from established trade coverage, historical data, and internal systems that reduce guesswork and improve efficiency.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Travel is primarily local during the business day, with occasional out‑of‑area and overnight travel for site visits and pre-bid meetings. Estimated travel is 10–30%, depending on project needs.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Reviewing project drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Developing accurate cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals
- Creating and managing trade lists and subcontractor coverage
- Coordinating with subcontractors to obtain pricing and clarify scope
- Preparing quantity takeoffs and scope sheets for all trades
- Reviewing and finalizing bid packages for submission
- Tracking project files, coverage, and estimating progress
- Participating in internal bid reviews with leadership
- Supporting project handoff to operations after award
- Traveling to job sites as needed for walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings
- 4–6 years of experience estimating commercial construction projects
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, scopes, and trade coordination
- Experience managing subcontractor relationships and bid coverage
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work within deadlines
- Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple bids at once
- Proficiency with estimating software and basic office tools
