Job Summary
The Fiberglass Technician is responsible for structural and cosmetic fiberglass repairs on watercraft, including gel coat and paint restoration, color matching, fabrication, and finishing. Ensures all work meets quality and safety standards while maintaining accurate documentation and a clean, organized workspace.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Performs structural and cosmetic repairs of fiberglass water crafts
- Performs paint and gel coat repairs on fiberglass water crafts
- Possess the ability to color match gel coat
- Removes and reinstalls various components of the water craft (as part of the fiberglass repair process)
- Performs all work in accordance with established plans, specifications, schedules, and standards of quality and safety
- Selects the proper fiberglass product and technique to repair area; estimates quantities needed and requests materials and supplies as needed
- Molds, fabricates, modifies and/or replaces fiberglass parts
- Prepares fiberglass objects for painting and fairing
- Receives and reviews various records and reports including work orders
- Mixes Gel coat catalyst and spray or brush repaired surfaces; match colors
- Buffs and polishes repaired surfaces
- Stocks and assists in maintaining inventory of shop supplies, materials, tools and equipment
- Maintains clean, orderly and safe work areas; properly maintains assigned equipment and tools
- Documents work performed daily
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor and staff, co-workers, guests, vendors, contractors, etc.
- Following company, industry and best practices regarding safety standards (safe equipment usage, personal protective equipment, reporting)

Work Experience
Years of relevant work experience required: minimum 2 years experience in the fiberglass trade or industry
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Requires bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting
- Requires the ability to use speech, vision and hearing
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
- Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity
- Work is performed outside in the elements, on and around water
