Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples and other specimens from patients with precision and care, ensuring accurate laboratory testing and patient safety. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, patient service, and clinical techniques to support diagnostic processes and improve patient outcomes.
Duties
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using aseptic technique to ensure specimen integrity.
- Collect, label, and process blood specimens accurately according to established protocols.
- Obtain vital signs and assess patient condition prior to specimen collection.
- Maintain proper documentation of all procedures, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Prepare specimens for transportation to laboratories, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and maintaining a compassionate demeanor.
- Follow laboratory safety standards and infection control protocols to prevent contamination or injury.
- Assist with specimen processing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and data entry as needed.
- Support other clinical staff with laboratory tasks and patient service activities as required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or clinical laboratory settings preferred.
- Certification or training in phlebotomy or related fields is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to blood collection.
- Experience with venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen processing required.
- Familiarity with hospital or healthcare environment standards is a plus.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control practices essential for safe specimen collection.
