This is a highly visible role for a finance leader who wants to be deeply involved in plant operations, partner closely with the General Manager, and help drive performance in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

This role goes well beyond traditional accounting. The Controller serves as a financial steward, strategic partner, and operational advisor, helping translate plant activity into clear financial insight and actionable decision support. If you enjoy being close to the business, working with operations leaders, and improving how a plant runs—not just how it reports—this role offers a meaningful opportunity to make an impact.

Flutes Hanna truly values our employees as our greatest asset and we strive to support both you and your family at work and in life.

What You’ll Do

As Controller, you will have full responsibility for the financial management, reporting, and control environment of the plant, while serving as a key member of the plant leadership team.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Financial Leadership & Reporting
    • Oversee all plant accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial statements.

    • Prepare and present financial results, forecasts, and insights to plant and corporate leadership.
    • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Cost Accounting & Operational Finance
    • Own the plant’s cost accounting environment, including standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost accuracy.
    • Partner with operations to analyze labor, material, overhead, scrap, yield, and efficiency variances.
    • Reconcile inventory and COGS to production and operational reports.
    • Identify cost drivers, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities across the plant.
  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Decision Support
    • Lead the annual budget and periodic forecasting processes.
    • Support pricing, product mix, capital investment, and operational decisions with sound financial analysis.
    • Translate KPIs and production data into actionable financial insights.
  • Controls, Compliance & Risk Management
    • Design and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
    • Coordinate and lead internal and external audits; partner with auditors on findings and improvements.
    • Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and lending requirements, including bank covenant reporting.
    • Oversee capital expenditure accounting, tracking, and post‑implementation review.
  • Cash, Systems & Team Leadership
    • Manage cash flow, A/R, A/P, credit exposure, and vendor relationships.
    • Act as the finance owner of plant ERP and reporting systems, partnering with IT on enhancements and controls.
    • Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team while fostering a collaborative, high‑accountability environment.
    • Work closely with other controllers to share best practices and drive consistency.
What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
  • 5 years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory, and plant operations.
  • Proven ability to partner with operations and influence decision‑making.
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience (Microsoft Great Plains preferred).
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with regular plant presence.
