The Screen-out for this position is performing the following tasks:
- Installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide variety of mechanical and electronic locking systems, including high-security locks, combination locks, cipher locks, and electromechanical devices.
- Opening, repairing, and rekeying locks and safes; changing combinations; fabricating or duplicating keys using code cutting, impressioning, or duplication methods; and maintaining key control systems and records.
- Diagnosing malfunctions and determining appropriate repair methods using technical manuals, manufacturer specifications, and security guidelines, and selecting appropriate tools and techniques to complete work.
- Installing and servicing security containers, vaults, and locking systems, including performing drilling, neutralization, and repair techniques for lockouts and safe failures.
- Designing, installing, and maintaining master key systems and access control systems, and conducting security surveys to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
- Fabricating, modifying, or repairing locking components using hand and power tools and shop equipment (e.g., drills, grinders, lathes, soldering equipment) and selecting appropriate materials based on strength, durability, and security requirements.
- Working independently to plan and complete assignments, exercising sound judgment in adapting procedures, troubleshooting complex issues, and making on-the-spot decisions in support of mission requirements.
