General Maintenance

Summary/Objective:  

The General Maintenance employee will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling and other building systems.  

Essential Functions:

• Repairs any building problems as needed.
• Repairs of machines mechanically as needed.
• Sets up new equipment as needed.
• Seeks guidance and direction as necessary for performance of duties
• Demonstrates good judgment in investigating problems.
• Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair
• Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs
• Plans repair work using blueprints or equipment manuals as needed
• Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
• Performs routine maintenance on building systems
• Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Performs all duties in an independent manner with little supervision.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to talk or hear.
• Regularly required to sit, regular use of hands.
• Frequently required to stand and walk. 
• Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and use foot/feet to operate machine. 
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
• The employee must be able to work under pressure with ever changing deadlines and priorities.

Skills/Competencies:

• Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools. 
• Ability to follow instructions.
