Material Handler

Position Title: Material Handler

Pay Type: Hourly

FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt        

Reports to: Logistics Manager    

Location: Rochester, NY – Lee Rd

Schedule: M-F 3:30pm - 12:00am

Summary/Objective:

The responsibility of the Material Handler is to optimize the profitability of Flower City by performing to the highest level of efficiency and tasks listed below. Through these activities, it will ensure that the highest level of productivity is consistently achieved.

Essential Functions: 

• Load and ship all outgoing material.
• Process all outgoing paperwork.
• Receive incoming deliveries, and ensure accuracy of materials and shipments by verifying vendor, Sku/part number, quantity received in compliance to PO, Pallet tag, BOM.
• Work in ERP system, entering receipts, data, configuring reports and resolving discrepancies.
• Pull orders to ship and check accuracy of orders.
• Prepare documents such as inventory references, bills of lading and shipping orders to route materials.
• Band and shrink-wrap customer orders for shipping.
• Clean and maintain shipping area.
• Inspect and operate all material handling equipment.
• Receive and distribute all courier packages (e.g., FedEx, Airborne, UPS) when required.
• Process all courier paperwork when required.
• Any other duties, as assigned.

Physical Demands:

• Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to eight hours per day.
• Frequently required to lift and/or carry up to 30 lbs.
• Occasionally required to push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb.
• Regularly required to talk and/or hear, see, and perform repetitive motion.
• Required to see color and use depth perception. 

Preferred Education and Experience:

• A two-year degree or equivalent from a technical school
• Two (2) years of work experience or an equivalent of four (4) years in the industry
• Packaging experience highly preferred
