Full-Stack AI Product Engineer (Agents & Platform)
Location: Chicago, IL (Fulton Market; hybrid considered) Reports To: CTO Type: Full-Time Compensation: $150K–$175K base equity
Mission
Help FLOW develop and deliver an agent-driven, conversational product faster by building and integrating AI capabilities directly into the platform. You'll work hands-on with our CTO to deliver production features, improve developer velocity using modern AI tools, and reduce reliance on outsourced development over time.
What You'll Do
- Build and ship full-stack product features (front-end back-end) in a React-based app, Python-based API subsystems, and Azure environment.
- Develop and integrate purpose-built agents into a conversational UI — including streaming responses, state management, tool calling, and tight API coordination.
- Implement and maintain key AI patterns:
Agent orchestration
RAG workflows
Vector DB / retrieval pipelines
Evaluation and reliability improvements
- Improve development speed using modern AI coding tools responsibly while maintaining quality, test coverage, and maintainable patterns.
- Partner with the CTO to document systems, reduce fragile handoffs, and progressively internalize capabilities currently handled by vendors.
What Success Looks Like — First 90 Days
- Meaningful product increments shipped weekly alongside the CTO.
- Agent integration patterns are stable, documented, and repeatable.
- Development velocity improves measurably — faster front-end component delivery, better test coverage, and smoother agent-to-UI integration.
What We're Looking For
Required
- Strong full-stack engineering skills with shipped production SaaS features to show for it.
- Hands-on experience implementing AI features in real products (not just notebooks): agents, tool orchestration, or RAG.
- Comfort operating in Azure environments.
Preferred
- Experience with conversational interfaces and streaming UX.
- Experience integrating, processing, and transforming first-party data.
- Experience working in small teams with high ownership and ambiguity.
- Familiarity with Python, React, and modern backend patterns.
