We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level Underwriter to join our collaborative team. This is an excellent opportunity for recent college graduates interested in starting a professional career in the insurance industry.
Position Summary
The Underwriter will review applications to determine eligibility for workers’ compensation coverage. This includes verifying the correct classification of operations and binding or denying coverage based on established underwriting guidelines.
The Underwriter will evaluate an applicant’s exposure base through research and analysis of operations, current classifications, ownership, prior workers’ compensation history, and loss experience.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze submitted application data for eligibility.
Conduct and document all required searches of licensure and coverage databases, as well as the applicant’s website.
Communicate with authorized agents regarding eligibility and any additional required information.
Respond to inquiries from agents seeking authorization.
Handle incoming calls from the general public seeking coverage, directing them to the FWCJUA website to locate an authorized agent.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and operational requirements.
Collaborate with team members to ensure all calls and applications are processed within established performance metrics.
Qualifications
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Work Location
