Florida Utility Trailers is looking for a skilled and dependable Semi-Trailer Mechanic to join our service team in Lakeland. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining semi-trailers to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. We are seeking someone with strong mechanical ability, trailer repair experience, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair semi-trailers, including dry vans, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and dump trailers
- Perform repairs to brakes, suspension systems, wheel ends, lighting, air systems, doors, floors, roofs, and trailer structural components
- Complete preventative maintenance inspections and identify needed repairs
- Repair or replace trailer components such as panels, crossmembers, landing gear, mud flaps, seals, and rear frames
- Perform welding, fabrication, and minor structural repairs as needed
- Troubleshoot electrical and air system issues
- Ensure all repairs are completed safely, accurately, and in a timely manner
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Document work performed and communicate repair needs clearly with service staff and management
- Follow all company safety procedures and shop policies
Qualifications:
- Experience in semi-trailer repair preferred
- Strong knowledge of trailer mechanical systems and general repair procedures
- Experience with brakes, suspension, electrical, lighting, and structural trailer repairs
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- Ability to diagnose problems and work independently
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to lift, bend, stand, and work in a shop environment throughout the day
- Valid driver’s license required
