Responsibilities
The Risk and Compliance Analyst assists in maintaining and ensuring the integrity the compliance program and identifying areas of enterprise risk. The Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the SBA’s adherence to regulatory, policy and statutory requirements and industry best standards. The Analyst will also assist in developing and implementing comprehensive compliance programs and initiatives to mitigate risks and safeguard operations. The Risk and Compliance Analyst will report to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.
65% Identify operational and compliance risk by participating in monitoring, governance, oversight and regulatory reporting activities in coordination with RMC teams and other internal control teams
- In coordination with Policy Administration, draft, review and update policies and procedures to enhance and mitigate compliance related risks
- Assist in conducting reviews of compliance policies and procedures to ensure effectiveness and relevancy
- Stay abreast of industry-wide compliance initiatives, regulations, and regulatory developments, and analyze their impact on the SBA operations and control framework
- Assist in facilitating risk and control documentation efforts, as well as control development and testing
- Assist to ensure policy and controls is aligned with current business operational practices and updates as the environment and practices change
- Prepare reports to document analysis, reviews, procedures, finding and recommendations
- Performs research and analysis on legal, policy and financial industry matters
- Utilize the latest technology and build appropriate dashboards and other visualization tools to assist in monitoring, maintaining and communicating compliance and control reviews and efforts
30% - Assist the various RMC units in special projects and assignments
- Assist in developing power point presentations and reports for use at oversight meetings and use by other stakeholders
- Assist to develop and test technology enhancements
- Coordinates data collection efforts for report development to include internal and external sources
- Maintain RMC databases, intranet and access reviews
05% - Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Two years of related experience or any combination of education and/or experience equal to the minimum requirements. A postsecondary degree may be used as an alternative for years of direct experience; 2 years for an associate’s degree, 4 years for a bachelor’s degree, 6 years for a master’s degree, 7 years for a professional degree, or 9 years for a doctoral degree.
Preferences:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in statistics, finance, accounting, business or a related field
- Experience in investment related compliance or auditing, a demonstrated track record of working collaboratively across multiple business units, and experience in reviewing and evaluating investment related contractual agreements and regulation
- Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, business intelligence software products such as Power BI
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of business processes, with the ability to identify and access risk, and apply best practices to processes, risk management and internal controls
- Basic knowledge of financial markets and investment strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
- Strong computer literacy (with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, database applications, programming and reporting) and analytical skills (including attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency)
- Excellent reading and analytical skills
- Ability to effectively define, implement and prioritize tasks and demonstrate flexibility necessitated by changing priorities
- Ability to exercise initiative and work independently
- Ability to exercise professional judgement in decision-making, problem solving and conflict resolution
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude and sense of urgency to meet deadlines and address competing priorities, with a willingness to work until the task is completed successfully
Hiring Range: $64,155-$80,220
