Job Summary

Florida Preparatory Academy is seeking a qualified, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Middle School Math and Science

Teacher to join our faculty. Our immediate need is for someone to teach 6th Grade Math and 6th Grade Science. We

are also seeking a candidate with the ability to teach math and science across all middle school grades (6–8) for future

teaching opportunities.

The ideal candidate will provide engaging, rigorous, and student-centered instruction while helping middle school

students develop strong mathematical reasoning and scientific inquiry skills. The successful candidate will be organized,

adaptable, and attentive to the academic and developmental needs of students in grades 6–8.

Florida Preparatory Academy serves a diverse population of day and boarding students in grades 6–12. Our faculty

work with students from a variety of academic, cultural, and international backgrounds in a supportive college-

preparatory environment.

Responsibilities

 Teach 6th Grade Math and 6th Grade Science to meet the school’s immediate instructional needs.

 Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with course standards and school academic expectations.

 Provide math instruction that develops foundational skills, conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and

mathematical reasoning.

 Plan and facilitate science investigations, demonstrations, projects, and hands-on learning experiences using

appropriate safety procedures.

 Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying academic abilities, language backgrounds, and

learning needs.

 Assess student learning through assignments, investigations, projects, quizzes, tests, and other appropriate

methods.

 Establish clear classroom expectations and maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment.

 Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and the Academic Team regarding student progress

and academic concerns.

 Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other school responsibilities as appropriate to the

position.

 Uphold Florida Preparatory Academy’s policies, procedures, mission, and academic expectations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

 Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

 Academic background and subject knowledge sufficient to teach math and science across middle school grades

6–8.

 Teaching, tutoring, instructional, or other relevant experience working with students.

Preferred Qualifications

 Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field.

 Previous experience teaching math and/or science at the middle school level.

 Valid teaching certification or license relevant to the assigned courses.

 Experience teaching foundational mathematics and inquiry-based science.

 Experience differentiating instruction and supporting English language learners.

 Experience working in a college-preparatory, private school, boarding school, or international school environment.
