Education and Training
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Certified Medical Scribe Professional - preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year working as a Medical Scribe or in a clinical documentation role in a medical practice.
Working knowledge of:
- Medical equipment and clinical instruments
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Medical terminology, anatomy, and common clinical conditions
- Clinical workflows and patient encounter processes in a medical settings
- Documentation standards, accuracy, and real-time charting requirements
- Physician dictation, instructions, and medical decision-making processes
- Accompany the on-site practitioner during patient visits to accurately document medical histories, physical exams, assessments, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Record patient information, including history of present illness, review of systems, and past medical history.
- Document procedures, diagnostic results, and physician instructions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with chart preparation prior to patient visits, ensuring all relevant information is available.
- Support on-site practitioner with administrative tasks such as completing forms, referrals, and prescription documentation.
- Ensure all documentation meets quality and compliance standards.
- Communicate effectively with on-site practitioner and clinical staff to ensure smooth workflow.
- Escort patients to check-out or optical dispensary areas as needed to ensure a smooth transition of care.
- Seek guidance from senior staff when necessary and perform duties within the scope of training and competency.
