Medical Assistant – Jacksonville

Join our team at ENT for Kids, a Division of Florida Pediatric Associates and play a key role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to our patients. In this position, you will support healthcare providers, contribute to a positive patient experience, and be part of a collaborative, patient-focused team dedicated to making every visit meaningful.

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of a Medical Assistant is to provide clinical and administrative support to on-site practitioner and staff. The Medical Assistant assists with patient care, clinical procedures, and ensures the smooth operation of the clinic while maintaining a safe and patient centered environment.

Education and Training

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Medical Assistant Certification (preferred)


Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year working as a Medical Assistant in a medical practice


Skills

Working Knowledge of:

  • Medical equipment and clinical instruments
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems


Understanding of:

  • Clinical Knowledge and Patient Support: Ability to assist with basic patient care, including preparing patients for exams, obtaining vital signs, and recognizing changes in patient condition to the on-site practitioner.
  • Medical Knowledge and Procedures: Basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and common clinical procedures.


Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients by greeting them and confirming the purpose of their visit.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in the patient’s medical record.
  • Provide patient instructions and education as directed by the on-site practitioner.
  • Ensure all related reports, laboratory results, and documentation are available and up to date in the patient’s medical record prior to appointments.
  • Maintain exam rooms by stocking adequate medical supplies, preparing instruments, and performing sterilization as required.
  • Answer telephone calls, take accurate messages, and provide appropriate responses to patients, providers, and pharmacies
  • Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to the on-site practitioner.
  • Maintain required logs and perform routine checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen levels, sterilization solutions)
  • Organize workflow and maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and seek immediate assistance when necessary.
  • Collaborate with on-site practitioner and clinical team members to ensure high-quality patient care and service delivery standards are met.
