This position is responsible for verifying patient benefits for upcoming appointments, accurately documenting the information in the practice management system, and communicating with patients as needed.
Education and Training
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a medical front office or similar role
- Experience with practice management systems, patient registration, and scheduling systems
Working knowledge of:
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and patient scheduling software
- Insurance verification processes and basic billing procedures
- Office equipment, including scanners, fax machines, and copiers.
- Front Office Operations: Familiarity with check-in/check-out processes, payment collection, and general administrative workflow.
- Customer service best practice in a healthcare setting
- Perform administrative and general office functions, including but not limited to copying, filing, faxing, and data entry.
- Answer telephone calls, provide information, screen and route telephone calls to the appropriate person or department.
- Verify eligibility and benefits for all patients including deductible and co-pay information prior to the appointment. Accurately document information into the practice management system.
- Obtain referrals and letters of authorizations from PCP or insurance company before appointment.
- Cancel or reschedule patient appointments as necessary based on insurance information.
- Print next day appointment schedule for practitioners and review for any add-on patients.
- Ensure all emails related to adding patients to the appointment schedule are reviewed and completed on a daily basis.
- Cover for front desk personnel, as needed.
