Position Overview

Florida Merchant Services is seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking Senior Financial Analyst & Forecasting Specialist to strengthen our financial operations and provide strategic insights that support company growth.

This position is responsible for analyzing financial performance, developing financial forecasts, monitoring revenue and expenses, identifying financial risks, and providing executive leadership with accurate and actionable financial information.

Unlike a traditional bookkeeping or accounting position, this role focuses on understanding the financial health of the company and predicting future financial outcomes.

We are looking for someone who can answer three essential questions:

3. What actions should we take now to improve our financial future?

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in financial modeling, forecasting, data analysis, and financial reporting, with the ability to translate complex financial information into practical business recommendations.

The Financial Analyst & Forecasting Specialist is expected to demonstrate these values through accurate reporting, sound judgment, ethical financial practices, and effective collaboration while respecting the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of all employees.

Key Responsibilities1. Financial Forecasting & Predictive Analysis

• Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts.
• Forecast company revenue, operating expenses, profitability, and cash flow.
• Create rolling 12-month financial projections.
• Develop financial models to evaluate potential business outcomes.
• Identify financial trends and anticipate changes in company performance.
• Prepare best-case, expected-case, and worst-case financial scenarios.
• Analyze how changes in processing volume, merchant retention, pricing, and expenses affect profitability.
• Provide recommendations to leadership based on forecast results.

Primary objective: Help executive leadership anticipate financial opportunities and challenges before they occur.

2. Revenue Analysis & Merchant Residual Forecasting

Because Florida Merchant Services operates in the payment processing industry, this position requires a strong focus on recurring merchant processing revenue.

Responsibilities include:

• Analyze monthly merchant processing residuals.
• Forecast future residual income based on processing volume and merchant growth.
• Monitor revenue trends by merchant, agent, portfolio, and processing partner.
• Identify merchants experiencing declining processing volume.
• Analyze revenue lost through merchant attrition and account closures.
• Evaluate the financial impact of new merchant acquisitions.
• Forecast residual growth from new sales production.
• Identify opportunities to improve portfolio profitability.
• Review processing partner reports for financial trends and unusual variances.

3. Profitability & Expense Management

• Analyze company operating expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Evaluate profitability by department, merchant portfolio, and business segment.
• Review vendor expenses, software subscriptions, and operational costs.
• Identify unnecessary spending and recurring financial inefficiencies.
• Calculate return on investment for new initiatives and major purchases.
• Monitor budget performance and investigate significant variances.
• Recommend strategies to improve company margins.
• Partner with department managers to strengthen financial accountability.

4. Financial Reporting & Executive Dashboards

• Develop monthly financial performance reports for executive leadership.
• Create dashboards displaying revenue, expenses, cash flow, profitability, and growth.
• Prepare actual-versus-budget and actual-versus-forecast comparisons.
• Identify significant financial changes and explain their causes.
• Provide clear recommendations based on financial results.
• Support leadership meetings with financial scorecards and performance summaries.
• Present financial information in a format that is easy to understand and act upon.

5. Cash Flow Forecasting & Financial Risk Management

• Develop weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts.
• Monitor accounts receivable and anticipated cash collections.
• Identify potential cash shortages before they occur.
• Forecast upcoming financial obligations and major expenses.
• Evaluate the financial impact of delayed payments or unexpected losses.
• Develop financial risk scenarios and contingency recommendations.
• Monitor cash reserves and working capital requirements.
• Help leadership make informed decisions regarding hiring, expansion, and investments.

6. Budgeting & Strategic Financial Support

• Assist with developing the company's annual operating budget.
• Support department-level budget planning.
• Analyze proposed hiring, compensation changes, and expansion opportunities.
• Develop financial models for new products, partnerships, and business initiatives.
• Evaluate the potential financial return of strategic investments.
• Provide data-driven recommendations to executive leadership.
• Collaborate with Accounting and Operations to improve financial visibility.

7. Financial Systems, Automation & Data Accuracy

• Develop efficient financial reporting processes.
• Maintain accurate financial models and forecasting tools.
• Utilize Excel, financial software, and business intelligence platforms.
• Identify opportunities to automate recurring financial reports.
• Validate financial information against accounting and processing data.
• Maintain organized documentation of financial assumptions and forecasting methodologies.
• Collaborate with Finance and Technology teams to improve reporting systems.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, forecasting, or FP&A.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
• Experience developing budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial projections.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, profitability analysis, and business performance metrics.
• Ability to interpret large datasets and identify meaningful trends.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to present financial information to executive leadership.
• High level of integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in merchant services, payment processing, banking, fintech, or financial services.
• Experience analyzing recurring revenue and merchant residual portfolios.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence platforms.
• Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or other financial systems.
• Familiarity with CRM platforms and merchant processing reports.
• Experience with scenario modeling and rolling financial forecasts.
• CPA, CFA, FPAC, or other relevant professional certification.
• Experience supporting executive leadership in a growing organization.
