Overview:
Florida Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer to join our team, with expertise in residential and commercial land development and water resources engineering. This role involves leading design efforts, managing multiple active projects, and ensuring compliance with local codes and permitting requirements. You’ll contribute to planning, design, environmental permitting, and construction documentation for a variety of site development and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities Include:
- Design and draft residential and commercial site development projects.
- Prepare engineering plans, hydrology reports, stormwater calculations, and septic system designs.
- Ensure compliance with zoning regulations, environmental codes, and permitting requirements.
- Manage 15–30 active projects, maintaining deadlines and quality standards.
- Provide technical oversight and collaborate with drafters and internal teams.
- Perform site layout planning, grading, and utility coordination.
- Conduct project management tasks including scheduling, client communication, and coordination with regulatory agencies.
- Apply hydrology/hydraulics software (e.g., HEC-RAS, StormCAD, HydroCAD) and AutoCAD for design and analysis.
- Support environmental compliance, infrastructure resiliency, and watershed modeling efforts.
Key Qualifications:
Required-
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Water Resources or Environmental Engineering) from an ABET-accredited program with 2 years of experience, OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an ABET-accredited program with 3 years of experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida, or ability to obtain within 1 year.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and stormwater design tools.
- Solid understanding of local codes, permitting processes, and environmental regulations.
Preferred-
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro and civil engineering software.
- Practical knowledge of construction plan development.
- Familiarity with Florida-specific engineering services and permitting.
- Successful delivery of planning studies, designs, and construction documents.
- EIT certification (if not PE licensed).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
