POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Industrial Hygienist, the Industrial Hygiene Technician supports the site's Industrial Hygiene program by conducting workplace inspections, exposure monitoring, equipment management, recordkeeping, and employee training. This position plays a key role in identifying, evaluating, and helping control occupational health hazards while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, and industrial hygiene best practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in maintaining and supporting the site's Industrial Hygiene (IH) programs, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct exposure monitoring for occupational hazards in accordance with established industrial hygiene best practices.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative respirator fit testing in accordance with the Respiratory Protection Program.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to industrial hygiene monitoring, equipment, training, and regulatory compliance.
- Organize, maintain, inspect, calibrate, and troubleshoot industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring equipment.
- Complete sample documentation, chain-of-custody forms, and coordinate laboratory sample submissions.
- Assist with workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and implementation of exposure control measures.
- Conduct employee training on industrial hygiene topics and safe work practices.
- Support regulatory compliance initiatives and assist with special projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders as required.
- Ability to wear respiratory protection and other required personal protective equipment for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred
- Previous experience in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Mining, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene sampling techniques and occupational exposure monitoring.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Experience maintaining technical records and working with data management systems.
