The FAU College of Business is one of the largest AACSB-accredited business schools in the United States, with more than 8,000 students. The Undergraduate Academic Advisor I will provide specialized academic advising services to undergraduate business students and students in other colleges seeking a College of Business minor or certificate. The advisor will deliver tailored academic guidance and assist students in the development of an education plan, including choosing a program of study and/or clarifying educational and professional goals.

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of experience required.

Salary:

Key Responsibilities:
Individualized Academic Advising:
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge about the College’s programs and requirements
- Advises students about the courses and requirements for degree programs and/or transfer requirements for a particular program of study
- Informs students about alternatives, limitations, and possible consequences of academic decisions (e.g. adding, dropping, withdrawing, change of major, attempts)
- Educates students about course planning and registration processes and refers to available resources to meet individual needs, including career and personal development
- Makes appropriate referrals to students perceived as at-risk and acts as an advocate as appropriate
- Develops and maintains operating procedures that minimize the likelihood and impact of errors
- Monitors student academic plans to provide timely, proactive outreach to ensure degree progress and timely graduation using defined learning outcomes
- Reinforces and supports student degree progress, academic success, and retention in alignment with university strategic goals and initiatives
- Participates in student recruitment and onboarding activities for on and off-campus events, and assists with orientation programs
- Participates in individual and team professional development and remains current with technology used to provide advising services.
- Other duties as assigned.
