Florida A&M University's Division of Student Affairs (Campus Recreation Center)is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Assistant Director of Student Affairs, Business Operations vacancy.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Multipurpose Facilities, The Associate Director of Business Operations is a professional staff member responsible for the Hansel E. Tookes Recreation Center Business Operations & Administration.

Responsible for Develop and maintain operational policies, procedures, and administrative guidelines; Monitor departmental performance metrics and prepare quarterly reports for senior leadership; Coordinate strategic planning initiatives and support departmental assessment efforts; Ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations; and assist with departmental risk management initiatives and operational reviews.

Oversee Recreation Center Student employment and development; Provide leadership for the recruitment, hiring, on boarding, training, and retention of student employees; Develop comprehensive student training and leadership development programs; Create pathways for professional growth and transferable skill development among student staff; Implement performance evaluation processes for student employees; Coordinate recognition and engagement initiatives to enhance student staff satisfaction and retention; Facilitate workshops focused on leadership, communication, customer service, workplace professionalism, and career readiness; and oversee student employee on-boarding and orientation programs.

Collect and analyze operational, participation, and workforce data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement; Develop dashboards and reports to support data-informed decision making; Assist in developing annual report and strategic planning documents; Benchmark Campus Recreation programs and services against peer institutions and industry best practices; Serve as a member of the Campus Recreation Leadership team; Supervise professional staff, graduate assistants, and student employees as assigned; Assist with special projects, departmental events , and strategic initiatives; Support departmental efforts related to student success, retention, wellness, and leadership development; and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and six years of related experience; or master's degree in appropriate area of specialization and four years of related experience.

Recommended Competencies

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations;

Ability to provide leadership and direction in programmatic, budgetary, and operational functions;

Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of management;

Ability to analyze, understand and interpret policies, procedures, goals, and objectives;

Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives;

Ability to utilize problem solving skills;

Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives;

Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of college student engagement;

Ability to maintain and improve personal and team effectiveness, and foster change and creativity;

Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices;

Ability to represent the University in appointed area as required;

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;

Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures and clinical protocols for areas of responsibility to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and professional regulations and for efficient clinic operations; and,

Ability to train and supervise employees.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree preferred in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Student Affairs, Recreation Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.

Experience supervising professional staff and student employees and developing and delivering training and leadership development programs. Experience utilizing data, assessment tools, and reporting systems to drive operational improvements. Coordinating large-scale projects, initiatives, or departmental programs.

Pay Plan

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.

Conditions of Employment
