Job Title: Counselor
Reports To: Site Manager
Position Type: Part-Time,Monday–Friday
Job Summary:
The Aftercare Counselor is responsible for supervising and engaging a group of students in a safe, structured, and supportive environment during after-school hours. This position requires adherence to all state childcare regulations and school district policies, as well as the completion of all required training sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage a group of students in accordance with program policies and safety standards.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and social development.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times, including during transitions, activities, and snack times.
- Maintain a positive and respectful environment that supports the behavioral and emotional needs of students.
- Complete all required training sessions and certifications, including those mandated by the state and school district.
- Follow all state regulations for school-age childcare programs, including student-to-staff ratios and safety procedures.
- Comply with school district policies and procedures while on campus.
- Monitor attendance, complete daily reports, and communicate with families as needed.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies, following established protocols.
- Collaborate with site staff and administration to ensure program quality and consistency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Over 18 years old
- Experience working with children in a structured setting.
- Ability to manage a group of students independently and effectively.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Must pass a background check and complete all required training courses.
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
