Position Summary
The Director of Campus Ministry is responsible for fostering the spiritual life of the student body and advancing the Catholic identity and Dominican charism of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. This position provides leadership in developing and implementing programs that nurture the faith formation of students and support the mission of the school.
The Director of Campus Ministry plans and coordinates liturgies, retreats, faith-based programming, and service opportunities that encourage students to deepen their relationship with God and live out the Dominican pillars of prayer, study, community, and service. The role works closely with students, faculty, staff, administration, and the broader Catholic community to cultivate a vibrant and engaged faith life on campus.

This position provides leadership in developing and implementing programs that nurture the faith formation of students and support the mission of the school.
The Director of Campus Ministry plans and coordinates liturgies, retreats, faith-based programming, and service opportunities that encourage students to deepen their relationship with God and live out the Dominican pillars of prayer, study, community, and service. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Spiritual Leadership And Student Engagement
- Serve as a spiritual leader for the student body and promote the Catholic identity of the school.
- Provide pastoral presence and availability for student engagement, spiritual direction, and faith-based counseling.
- Build meaningful relationships with students and actively seek opportunities for spiritual accompaniment.
Plan and coordinate major liturgical celebrations and prayer services for the school community, including but not limited to:
- Eight (8) All-School Masses annually
- Veritas Communion Breakfast
- New Student Orientation Mass
- Baccalaureate Mass
- Parent Guild Installation Mass
- Additional community liturgies and prayer services throughout the academic year
Oversee the planning and execution of the school’s comprehensive retreat program, including:
- Senior Kairos Retreat (4-day overnight)
- Junior Retreat (4-day overnight)
- Sophomore Retreat (one day on campus and one overnight annually)
- Freshman Retreats (two on-campus retreats annually)
- Recruiting, training, and mentoring student retreat leaders
- Coordinating faculty supervision for on-campus and off-campus retreats
- Collaborating with retreat centers to coordinate dates and logistics
- Managing the retreat program budget and resource allocation
- Lead and mentor the Campus Ministry Leadership Team (CMLT).
- Train and support student liturgical leaders and ministers.
- Develop student leadership in faith-based programming and ministry.
- Oversee the Student Mission Committee and develop programming that educates students about the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose and the school’s Dominican charism.
- Cultivate student membership and leadership within the committee.
- Plan and coordinate Veritas Week and related mission-centered programming.
- Promote awareness of Dominican spirituality, saints, and traditions throughout the academic year, including celebrations for:
- Founder’s Day
- St. Catherine of Siena Feast Day
- St. Dominic Feast Day
Coordinate School-wide Faith Traditions And Community Events, Including
- Candle Rose Ceremony
- Prayer services throughout the academic year
- Las Posadas during the Advent season
Coordinate Or Participate In Special Faith Formation Opportunities, Including
- Dominican Preaching Conference (student participation; stipend provided)
- Veritas MSJ Summer Retreat (off campus with students)
- Campus Ministry Leadership Team summer retreat
- Los Angeles Archdiocesan Prayer Breakfast
- Los Angeles Christian Service Award program
- Teach one (1) section of Religious Studies.
- Participate in Religious Studies Department meetings and collaborate with department faculty.
- Coordinate the annual Campus Ministry calendar.
- Collaborate with the Director of Adult Faith Formation to plan faculty and staff retreats.
- Facilitate collaborative ministry initiatives with other Catholic high schools.
- Attend Archdiocesan youth ministry meetings and represent the school in diocesan initiatives.
- Assist with the Dominican Service Program as needed.
- Serve as a member of the High School Administrative Team.
- Participate on the Curriculum Board.
- Serve on the Mission Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of the school.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with a strong commitment to Catholic education and Dominican spirituality.
- Demonstrated ability to lead faith formation programs and foster spiritual development in adolescents.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and program management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a mission-driven educational community.
- Commitment to supporting the mission, values, and Catholic identity of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in campus ministry, youth ministry, or Catholic school ministry strongly preferred.
- Experience planning retreats, liturgies, and student leadership programs.
- Teaching experience in religious studies or theology is preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the campus during the school day.
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to approximately 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel and participate in overnight retreats and off-campus events.
- Ability to use standard office equipment and technology.
- Work is performed in a school environment, including classrooms, offices, chapels, and outdoor campus spaces.
- Regular interaction with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
- Position requires occasional evening and weekend work, as well as overnight travel for retreats and ministry events.
