About the Position

Flinders University is seeking a Team Leader, Community Development & Wellbeing Program (CDP), to support the delivery of a student-led field education program within the Mental Health Pathway to Practice Program. The role provides day-to-day leadership, coordination and agency-level supervision to Student Social Workers, ensuring a safe, engaging and high-quality placement experience that supports professional identity, community development practice and mental health promotion.

As the Community Development Team Leader, you will:

  • Guide Student Social Workers through all phases of placement, from orientation and community engagement to implementation, evaluation and project handover.

  • Provide agency-level supervision, placement coordination and wellbeing support, while monitoring student progress, workload and professional practice.

  • Foster collaborative relationships with University staff, Project Sponsors and community stakeholders to support successful placement outcomes.

  • Contribute to program evaluation, continuous improvement and the development of placement resources, processes and documentation.

About You

You are an experienced community development, social work or human services professional who enjoys mentoring emerging practitioners and supporting meaningful community outcomes. You thrive in collaborative environments, are highly organised, and are committed to inclusive, strengths-based and student-centred practice.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A relevant qualification in Social Work, Community Development, Human Services, Psychology, Public Health or a related discipline, with experience supporting students, staff or volunteers in learning or practice environments.

  • Sound knowledge of community development principles, mental health promotion, wellbeing and strengths-based approaches.

  • Experience coordinating projects, placements or programs, with the ability to manage competing priorities and support positive learning experiences.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and organisational skills, with a commitment to ethical, culturally responsive and collaborative practice.

About the Mental Health Pathways to Practice Program (MHPPP)

The Mental Health Pathways to Practice Program Pilot (MHPPP) , powered by Flinders University, offers up to $35,000 funding per intern for employing organisations - covering onboarding, supervisor support, and relocation - while connecting aspiring psychologists with intensive, high-quality supervised placements to address critical psychology shortages in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
