Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Sous Chef located in Boston, MA. The Sous Chef will assist in planning and preparing high-quality, nutritious meals for students and staff. Responsibilities include overseeing daily kitchen operations, maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation, managing inventory, training and mentoring kitchen staff, and ensuring exceptional dining experiences. The Sous Chef will collaborate on menu planning, support special events, and uphold the values of FLIK Independent School Dining.


Qualifications

  • Proven culinary skills, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and food presentation
  • Knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene practices, and kitchen sanitation procedures
  • Leadership and people management skills, with the ability to train and supervise a team effectively
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to oversee daily operations and inventory
  • Experience in menu planning and developing recipes with a focus on healthy, sustainable ingredients
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Formal culinary training or equivalent experience in professional kitchens preferred
  • Understanding of dietary needs and restrictions, including food allergies, is a plus
