Position Overview:
Flexpak is seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Sr. Designer to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on delivering innovative packaging solutions with a strong emphasis on mechanical design, precision, and efficiency. While prior experience with corrugated and foam packaging is a plus, we are primarily seeking a candidate with exceptional technical aptitude, CAD expertise, and a creative approach to solving design challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop custom packaging solutions tailored to client requirements, with a focus on structure, protection, and manufacturability.
- Conduct drop tests in accordance with standards such as ASTM D5276, ISTA, and MIL-STD-810 to evaluate product and packaging durability, simulate real-world impacts from handling and shipping, and identify potential areas of weakness.
- Create detailed technical drawings and 3D models using CAD software (CAD or similar platforms).
- Collaborate with sales, production, and engineering teams to ensure design feasibility, material compatibility, and cost-effectiveness.
- Support the prototyping process and perform design iterations based on testing and feedback.
- Maintain organized design files and documentation, ensuring accuracy and version control.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support graphic design projects as needed, ensuring brand alignment and visual clarity in packaging.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 3 years of professional experience in design, preferably within packaging, manufacturing, or product development.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CADIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Proven mechanical aptitude and ability to visualize and develop functional design solutions.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and customer requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Graphic design skills are a plus and may be utilized for product or client-facing deliverables.
- Experience with corrugated or foam packaging is a bonus but not required.
