New Orleans, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an experienced Marine Production Designer/Drafter to support the development of production-ready drawings for vessel construction. This is a hands-on, mid-level position requiring strong AutoCAD skills and previous experience producing 2D marine production and nesting drawings. The ideal candidate will be able to step into the role with minimal training and effectively convert ShipConstructor model output into clear, accurate drawings for fabrication and production teams.
Essential Duties:
• Develop detailed 2D production engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Create and revise plate and part nesting drawings for vessel construction.
• Convert ShipConstructor model output into accurate, production-ready 2D drawings.
• Prepare drawings that clearly communicate fabrication, assembly, and construction requirements.
• Review model information, dimensions, materials, and design details to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with engineering, design, and production teams to identify and resolve drawing and fabrication issues.
• Maintain drawing revisions and ensure documentation complies with established project standards.
• Support immediate project requirements while contributing to ongoing production and organizational growth.
• Maintain accuracy and meet established production schedules and project deadlines.
Requirements/Skills:
• Previous experience in marine design, shipbuilding, vessel construction, or marine production engineering is required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and 2D technical drawing development.
• Experience developing marine production engineering drawings and nesting layouts.
• Familiarity with ShipConstructor model output and converting model information into production drawings.
• Strong understanding of shipyard fabrication, assembly, and production processes.
• Ability to interpret technical models, engineering drawings, specifications, dimensions, materials, and construction details.
• Ability to work independently and become productive with minimal training.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to drawing accuracy.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with engineering, design, fabrication, and production personnel.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet production-driven deadlines.
• Must be available to work on-site on a full-time schedule of approximately 40 hours per week.
• Contract-to-hire employment is preferred; qualified direct-hire candidates may also be considered.
• Compensation ranges from $30–$60 per hour, depending on experience.
• Overtime may be available based on project requirements and will be paid at time-and-a-half; overtime is not guaranteed.
• This position is intended to be long-term, with potential for permanent employment based on performance, business needs, and mutual fit.
