About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Construction Project Manager to join an established construction organization supporting major industrial projects throughout South Louisiana.
This is a high-priority direct-hire position, and the company is prepared to move quickly for the right candidate.
The Project Manager will work primarily between the Baton Rouge corporate office and an active major industrial project in Norco, Louisiana. This position requires someone who is equally comfortable managing projects from the office and working directly with superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and field personnel at active industrial construction sites.
The ideal candidate is an established construction Project Manager who can independently take ownership of projects from contract award through completion while maintaining control of schedule, budget, quality, documentation, subcontractors, procurement, change orders, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage industrial construction projects from contract award through completion and closeout
- Maintain responsibility for project schedule, cost, quality, documentation, and overall client satisfaction
- Work directly with clients to review project status, expectations, concerns, and changing project requirements
- Coordinate between the Baton Rouge office and project personnel at the Norco site and other project locations
- Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work
- Identify constructability issues and potential value-engineering opportunities
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules
- Coordinate closely with Project Superintendents to keep field activities on schedule
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, material suppliers, and procurement activities
- Negotiate and administer subcontracts, purchase orders, and other project agreements
- Manage project budgets, costs, forecasting, and overall financial performance
- Identify potential cost impacts, delays, scope gaps, and project risks before they become larger issues
- Prepare, track, negotiate, and manage project change orders
- Maintain project controls including RFIs, submittal logs, change-order logs, procurement tracking, and related documentation
- Conduct and document project progress meetings with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
- Perform regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, scope, safety compliance, and field conditions
- Maintain effective communication between office personnel, field teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors
- Manage substantial completion and project closeout
- Assist with estimating, proposals, scope reviews, quantities, and subcontractor proposals as needed
- Manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and project requirements simultaneously
Qualifications
- 5 years of construction project management experience
- Industrial civil construction experience strongly preferred
- Proven experience independently managing construction projects from award through completion
- Experience managing both self-performed and subcontracted construction work
- Strong knowledge of project scheduling, cost control, procurement, subcontractor management, and change-order management
- Demonstrated understanding of construction project financials and cost control
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work
- Experience working directly with owners/clients, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel
- Strong organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to proactively identify project risks and develop solutions
- Comfortable transitioning between a professional office environment and active industrial construction sites
- Proficiency with construction/project-management software and standard computer applications
- Ability to independently manage projects without requiring constant senior-level oversight
A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but significant relevant construction experience may be considered in place of a degree.
Industrial & Safety Requirements
Candidates must have or be able to obtain:
- TWIC Card
- OSHA Basic Plus certification
- Applicable Safety Council and site-specific training
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Required pre-employment physical, drug/alcohol screening, audiogram, fit testing, and other site-specific screenings as applicable
Work Environment & Travel
This is a salaried position involving both office-based project management and field responsibilities.
The position will be based primarily between Baton Rouge and Norco, Louisiana, with regular visits to active industrial construction sites. Additional travel to other project locations may be required.
Candidates should be comfortable working around active construction operations and occasionally working extended hours, evenings, weekends, or overnight travel when project demands require.
Compensation
$120,000–$140,000 annually, depending on experience
