Teacher Aide

JOB GOALS

To perform non-instructional duties under teacher supervision in meeting the needs of students. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provides support for the teacher by helping with clerical work and classroom activities;
• Assists in the development and implementation of the Individual Education Plan (IEP);
• Provides individual attention to students in need of extra assistance with personal care, hygiene, meals, and drinks, and assists students with the integration into regular classroom;
• Implements behavior intervention policies to ensure classroom safety for students and faculty;
• Maintains and respects student and school personnel information; and
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned by administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate's Degree, or
• Two years of college (48 credit hours, minimum), or
• Receive a passing score for the ETS Paraprofessional assessment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required include stooping and/or kneeling, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing.

Teacher Assistant

JOB GOALS

To provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Administers, scores, and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students;
• Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes;
• Distributes and collects workbooks, paper, and other materials for instruction;
• Assists with the supervision of students during drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips;
• Supervises testing, corrects papers, checks homework as assigned by the teacher;
• Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials;
• Assumes responsibility for knowing and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job;
• Assists the teacher in assimilating materials for class displays;
• Promotes physical development with daily activities that require physical movement;
• Maintains and respects student and school personnel information; and
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned by administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor Degree in Education or related field.
