Preferred Qualifications:
- Is at least 21 years of age.
- Successful candidates must be highly qualified.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Accurately follows oral and written directions.
- Effectively controls a group, independent of an immediate supervisor.
- Previous school-based experience with children is preferred but not required.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assists classroom teacher(s) in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional objectives.
- Records test data as assigned.
- Performs clerical duties and assists with maintaining various records and files. Files, test scores, and related records are kept confidential.
- Works with small groups or individuals to reinforce materials introduced by the teacher(s).
- Provides programmed practice activities and repetitions.
- Works with computers to assist students with instructional activities.
- Assists with large group activities.
- Escorts students to special classes, library, physical education, etc.
- Guides independent study and other work as assigned by teacher(s).
- Advises teacher(s) on students’ problems (instructional or behavioral).
- Assists students with disabilities, loading and unloading buses.
- Assists students or an assigned student with breakfast, lunch, snacks, clean up, lavatory, clothing, personal hygiene, and wash-up routines.
- Encourages students to continue special tasks as practiced in OT & PT if appropriate.
- Maintains confidentiality of student and school-related information.
- Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.
- Performs other duties as required by the assigned teacher(s) or principal.
Terms of employment: 182 days per year
Salary to be determined by the 2025-2026 Salary Scale
