What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Director position at Flatrock?

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee core finance operations across multiple entities while leading and developing a small, high-impact team. The ideal candidate brings both technical strength and people leadership, with the ability to step in, assess quickly, and create structure and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of 6–7 across AP, AR, payroll, billing, and accounting
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations across multiple entities (including Flatrock and affiliated organizations)
- Own financial reporting, analysis, and the accuracy/timeliness of month-end close
- Review AR/AP aging, identify issues, and drive resolution across the team
- Support audits and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and financial requirements (including HIPAA-related financial data handling where applicable)
- Partner closely with executive leadership to communicate financial performance, identify risks, and improve operational efficiency
- Assess current processes and implement structure, accountability, and improved workflows across the finance function
Must Have Qualifications
- 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams
- Strong hands-on experience with financial reporting, analysis, and month-end close
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically—comfortable rolling up your sleeves as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA preferred but not required

- Experience in healthcare, human services, or multi-entity environments
- Strong understanding of compliance, financial controls, and audit readiness
- Ability to step into a team that needs clear leadership and direction
- Strong communicator who can align teams and drive performance
