What We Are Looking For:
FLANDERS is looking for a full-time Field Electrical Technician to join our Field Service team in Lakeland, FL. This individual will perform electrical installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on commercial and industrial power systems, equipment, and infrastructure within mining operations, milling facilities, and fixed plant environments. Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with standards to maximize system uptime and reliability.
When on Field Service jobs you will be paid an additional rate of $10.00 per hour (this includes $5.50 per hour Field Service Premium plus $4.50 per hour meal allowance).
What You Will Do:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including power distribution, motors, control panels, and lighting.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on industrial equipment such as crushers, conveyors, mills, hoists, and fixed plant systems.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain AC and DC motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and related systems.
- Test, troubleshoot, and maintain control systems with knowledge of PLCs and VFDs.
- Interpret and work from electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, MSHA, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Document all work performed, including service reports, time tracking, and expense reporting.
- Maintain tools, test equipment, and PPE in safe and proper condition.
What You’ll Need:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Trade school or apprenticeship in electrical studies is strongly preferred.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of electrical experience required.
- Practical electrical experience in mining, metals, mills, or heavy industrial industries strongly preferred.
Other:
- Knowledge of AC and DC motors (operation, troubleshooting, and repair).
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and/or variable frequency drive (VFD) systems for machine troubleshooting.
- Ability to take after-hours calls when required.
- Strong math skills including algebra, trigonometry, and analytical geometry.
- Strong interpersonal skills working directly with customers in field environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and time management abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to multitask while coordinating multiple high-level priorities.
