What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Assistant position at Fladger Associates?
Responsibilities:
- We are looking for an immediate addition to our team of Student Lab Technicians. The candidate should be a sophomore or junior student at Iowa State University studying a biological science, available to work 10-15h/week during the semester, and up to 40h/wk during the summer.
- Primary responsibilities include: cleaning/sterilizing glassware, cleaning/maintaining lab equipment, sterilization of labware, handling and decontamination of biohazardous waste, stocking supplies in the lab, making reagents, and maintaining all lab spaces.
- Our goal is to hire a candidate that is hard working, goal-oriented, and capable of completing tasks on his/her own after a one-month training period. Some experience with lab techniques is preferred, but we are willing to consider candidates who have less experience, but have strong work ethic and learn quickly.
- There may be opportunities for doing project related work on early animal vaccine research for several viral and bacterial pathogens. If candidates are available to stay for 40hr/week during the summer, project related work is possible.
- Please bring a proposed work schedule to the interview. We are asking for 10-15h/week, at least 2h/shift (preferably more). Working hours are Mon-Fri between 7am-5pm. Because we are located at the ISU Research Park, only 1 shift per day. Allow at least 15-30 min to get here from campus, longer if using CyRide as transportation.
- Those with an interest in only a summer internship need not apply.
