What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Quality Inspector position at FK Instrument Co., LLC?

You'll play a key role in inspecting aerospace and precision-machined components using advanced inspection equipment while working alongside a team committed to continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence.
What You'll Do
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision machined components.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using CMMs, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Operate Zeiss CMMs using existing inspection programs and create new programs in Calypso (preferred).
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements.
- Complete First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation and quality records.
- Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming products.
- Partner with manufacturing to maintain quality standards and recommend process improvements.
- Accurately record inspection activities and labor in the ERP system.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
What We're Looking For
- 3 years of mechanical inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment including: CMM, micrometers, height gauges, surface plates and indicators, gauge blocks and pin gauges, thread plug and ring gauges, optical comparators, profilometers.
- Experience with Zeiss CMMs and Calypso software is a plus.
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality standards.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
