Five Star Mechanical is a locally owned mechanical contractor serving Wichita and the surrounding region since 2005. We provide HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, and building automation solutions for commercial and industrial customers.
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with strong Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) construction project management experience to manage projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role is responsible for coordinating MEP systems and trades, managing project financials and schedules, resolving construction coordination challenges, and building strong relationships with customers, general contractors, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams.
This is a great opportunity for a construction professional who understands MEP systems and their integration, takes ownership of project outcomes, and is committed to delivering quality work safely, on time, and within budget.
What You'll Do
- Manage commercial and industrial MEP construction projects from planning and pre-construction through final closeout.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes to ensure systems are properly integrated and installation activities are sequenced effectively.
- Take ownership of project budgets, schedules, costs, forecasting, billing, procurement, and overall financial performance.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements to identify scope gaps, potential conflicts, and coordination issues.
- Work with general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, foremen, superintendents, and field teams to resolve MEP coordination challenges and maintain project schedules.
- Manage change orders, contracts, project documentation, and customer communication.
- Identify project risks early and develop practical solutions to minimize delays, rework, and cost overruns.
- Monitor project progress and financial performance to help ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and closeout requirements as applicable to the project.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure company and industry standards are followed.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, and teamwork.
- Represent Five Star professionally and help maintain the high standards we expect from our team.
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years of project management experience in commercial or industrial construction, with substantial experience coordinating Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems and trades.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and how they interface during construction.
- Demonstrated experience managing MEP coordination, reviewing construction drawings and specifications, coordinating installation sequencing, and resolving trade-related conflicts.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, costs, change orders, contracts, and financial forecasts.
- Proven ability to coordinate general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams across multiple trades.
- Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently make decisions, prioritize work, and take accountability for project results.
- Experience with construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, BIM coordination tools, or similar platforms preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to meet company vehicle requirements.
