Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teacher Substitute to join our educational team. This role involves stepping into classrooms across various grade levels and subject areas, providing continuity of instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teachers. Responsibilities
- Deliver lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher or adapt as necessary to meet student needs
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive student conduct
- Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development through effective classroom management and instructional techniques
- Assist with curriculum development and lesson planning when needed
- Foster inclusive learning environments, including experience working with children with autism or special education needs
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Support literacy education, math instruction, and other subject areas as required
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and developmental levels
- Uphold school policies and procedures consistently across all classrooms
Experience
- Prior classroom experience or substitute teaching experience preferred
- Experience working with children in early childhood education, preschool settings, or private schools is advantageous
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques
- Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management strategies
- Experience working with students with special needs, including those on the autism spectrum or requiring additional support in literacy or math education
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families
- Background in Montessori methods or other specialized educational approaches is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to new environments and manage multiple classrooms efficiently.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or similar settings; prior classroom management experience preferred
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles, toddler care, infant care, and behavior management techniques
- Certification in first aid and CPR required; additional training in special education or working with children with disabilities is a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members
- Ability to lead a classroom confidently while fostering a warm, inclusive environment
- Experience with caregiving roles such as nannying or babysitting is beneficial
- Demonstrated understanding of childhood development stages and appropriate teaching strategies for toddlers
- Compassionate caregiver with excellent organizational skills and patience to handle diverse needs of young children
- REQUIRED: 6 hours of ECE college credits with 60 total college credits, or 6 ECE college credits with 30 college credits with a year (clock in hours at a childcare center) or, a CDA.
Pay Scale:
· Teacher qualified:
- Part Time: 18.00 or Substitute: 18.00 *Substitute hours may vary between full or part time per week
- Full Time in classroom: 18.50
