The Opportunity

You will handle a varied caseload spanning family and employment-based immigration, nonimmigrant visas, citizenship, asylum, cancellation of removal, deportation defense, inadmissibility waivers, TPS, mandamus actions, appeals, and immigration complications involving criminal charges. Our well-organized practice offers hands-on courtroom experience, exposure to sophisticated legal matters, and close collaboration with the Principal Attorney and the entire team.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

• Guide prospective clients: Conduct consultations, explain legal options and next steps, and coordinate follow-up and documentation needed to retain the firm.
• Manage cases proactively: Independently manage a substantial caseload using MyCase and Docketwise, tracking deadlines, next actions, and case progress.
• Develop legal strategies: Work closely with the Principal Attorney to establish case strategies and participate in regular case-status meetings.
• Prepare strong filings: Research legal issues and prepare, review, and timely file immigration applications and petitions, I-601/I-601A and other waivers, motions, briefs, memoranda, and appeals before administrative agencies and federal courts.
• Represent and prepare clients: Handle immigration and criminal matters as assigned, including USCIS interviews, Immigration Court hearings, and other court proceedings; prepare clients thoroughly for interviews and appearances.
• Support and supervise the team: Guide and train paralegals and other legal staff, set priorities, review work, and monitor progress on assigned cases.
• Communicate with care: Keep clients informed, respond promptly, and explain complex legal issues in clear, accessible language.
• Maintain reliable records: Document client communications, case activity, documents, notes, and time daily in our case management system.

Requirements for the Position

• An active Massachusetts bar license and at least three years of immigration law experience.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced practice.
• A collaborative approach, initiative, and a commitment to continuous learning and supporting other team members.
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine dedication to responsive, personalized service for people from diverse backgrounds.
• Fluency in Spanish, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
