Job Description:
We are seeking experienced Upfitter Technicians to modify brand-new vehicles into police and emergency vehicles. Openings are available for both Level 3 Upfitter Technicians and Level 4 Upfitter Technicians (Team Lead) based on experience and qualifications.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced production environment requiring strong mechanical and automotive electrical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Responsibilities (All Levels)
- Install emergency vehicle equipment including wiring harnesses, light bars, push bumpers, controllers, consoles, partitions, radar systems, camera systems, power supplies, and component trays
- Disassemble and reassemble factory vehicles per build specifications
- Read and interpret electrical schematics
- Work with brands such as Whelen, Havis, Setina, Motorola, Proguard, Jotto, Federal Signal, Troy, Axon, Go Rhino, and similar upfitter manufacturers
- Maintain accurate records and production documentation (QuickBase, daily production boards)
- Follow safety procedures and quality standards
- Work collaboratively in a team environment
Additional Responsibilities – Level 4 (Team Lead)
- Lead a team of 3–5 upfitter technicians
- Conduct daily team meetings and assign work
- Ensure production goals and quality standards are met
- Support training and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
Level 3 Upfitter Technician
- 3 years of experience with automotive electrical systems
- 3 years of experience as a police or emergency vehicle upfitter
Level 4 Upfitter Technician / Team Lead
- 5 years of experience with automotive electrical systems (preferred)
- 5 years of experience as a police or emergency vehicle upfitter (preferred)
- Prior leadership or team lead experience
All Candidates Must Have:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Positive attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to pass an extensive background check
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE Automotive Technician certification or valid mechanic’s license
- EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certification
Pay & Benefits
- Level 3: $30 per flag hour
- Level 4 / Team Lead: $35 per flag hour
(Flag hour pay is based on actual time spent performing upfitting work)
