Job Title:  Controller

Department:  Regional Team

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

FLSA Status:  Exempt

Summary: The Controller will report to the CFO and is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of the organizations’ accounting and financial operations, including financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, budgeting, internal controls, financial analysis and planning.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements for 9 fitness centers and related service companies
  • Timely and accurate processing of vendor payments
  • Monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and membership statistics
  • Coordination of year end audit work with the independent accountants
  • Preparation of annual operating and capital budgets
  • Implementing and maintaining a fixed asset inventory system
  • Monitoring and compliance with all financial covenants
  • Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal controls and checks across all departments
  • Other responsibilities as may be assigned

 

Management Responsibilities: The Controller will manage the daily operations of the finance function, including the supervision of the Payroll & Accounts Payable Supervisor and the Accounts Payable Coordinator. In addition, the controller will work collaboratively with the CFO and the regional directors, general managers and other management team members.

The Controller will partner with the CFO, senior leadership and human resource to enhance and better integrate finance, HR and IT functions.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this position the Controller will have a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a minimum of three years public accounting or equivalent experience. The Controller will have strong computer skills, including an advanced working knowledge of Excel and QuickBooks. Experience in the fitness industry is a plus along with a working knowledge of membership management systems.

$110K - $120K
