Head Coach Women's Ice Hockey Club

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain knowledge of current sport game rules and changes to those rules as they occur.
• Assist in the recruitment of potential club members by attending open houses, working with admissions staff to identify and communicate with interested recruits, and recruiting current students on campus.
• Organize and direct the day-to-day operations of the club, including teaching skills and strategies for the specific sport or activity during practices and games.
• Attend all contests. Travel with the team to all away contests. Drive team vehicles to away contests as required.
• Hire, supervise and evaluate assistant coaches if applicable.
• Submit proposed practice schedule to Recreation Services staff and communicate any requests for schedule changes.
• Work to meet minimum roster requirements necessary for league participation.
• Review eligibility rules with all participants.
• Conduct fundraising projects in compliance with all regulations of the department.
• Publicize initial practices (try-outs) with the assistance of Recreation Services staff.
• Conduct try-outs as needed and determine roster. Forward roster to Recreation Services staff as soon as possible.
• Assist with the creation and updating of club sports websites.
• File a written report, within 24 hours, to Recreation Services staff in regard to any infraction of institutional, Departmental or governing bodies rules, which result in disciplinary action, i.e. ejection from contests, unsportsmanlike behavior, etc.
• Assume supervisory control over all phases of team's participation. Create a safe and positive environment for students. Emphasize and enforce the student code of conduct and any team rules in a firm and equitable manner. Conduct oneself in an ethical manner during practices and contests and demand appropriate behavior from all team personnel.
• Meet with Recreation Services staff regarding schedule, facilities, support staff, budget, transportation and equipment.
• Participate in all Admissions Open House and other recruiting events.
• Other duties as requested.

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.
• Commitment to academic success and student-athlete well being.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Valid driver's license.

This is a part-time, non-benefited position with a varied schedule up to 5 hrs per week days/evenings. $2,000 stipend.
