As a Basic Needs Operations Assistant, you'll be the welcoming face of the Falcon Bazaar Food & Necessities Pantry and the Professional Clothing Closet. Helping fellow Fitchburg State University students access food, hygiene items, and professional attire in a supportive, judgment-free space. The Operations Assistant works across both programs, which are part of the Office of CARE & Case Management.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide friendly customer service to students, including maintaining a professional appearance.
- Assist students visiting the Falcon Bazaar Food and Necessities Pantry and the Professional Clothing Closet in locating, selecting, and signing out items using PantrySoft.
- Maintain accurate records of student visits and inventory of items using PantrySoft.
- Assist with processing and fulfilling online orders placed through PantrySoft for pickup at the Falcon Bazaar.
- Maintain bazaar stock and tidiness, including moving and unpacking boxes, and organizing shelves and clothing racks.
- Attend bi-weekly/monthly 1:1 meetings with supervisors and monthly in-service staff training sessions.
- Help plan, set up, staff, and break down displays for outreach events, donation drives, and campus tabling.
- Help create content for the office's social media to promote programs, services, and events.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Possess good computer and typing skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer service-oriented.
- Dependable and responsible.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Lift and move objects up to 25 lbs.
- Must possess federal work-study.
Additional Information:
- Hiring for the Fall 2026 semester.
- This is a part-time, non-benefited student-only position, and the hourly rate is $15.00
- The schedule for this position is 5 hours per week.
- Students do not work during scheduled class times, University academic calendar breaks, Federal Holidays, or University closures.
