Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) is seeking a Trade Advisor to join its Houston-based team. In this role, you will support the day‑to‑day operations of the office, assist Flemish companies with their U.S. market activities, and contribute to a wide range of trade and investment initiatives.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and well‑organized professional who enjoys working in a small, dynamic, and international environment.
Key Responsibilities- Proactively gather, analyze, and screen market and company information
- Facilitate matchmaking and respond to inquiries from Flemish companies looking to export to the United States
- Conduct desk research and prepare market studies and briefings
- Draft proposals and respond to questions related to doing business in Flanders
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Houston office
- Maintain and update internal databases and CRM systems
- Handle email and phone inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Coordinate with internal colleagues and external partners
- Support the organization of events, trade missions, and other activities
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Commerce, International Business, or a related field
- Minimum of two years of relevant work experience
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications; familiarity with social media is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail‑oriented, well‑organized, and structured working style
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Comfortable interacting with a wide range of professional stakeholders
- Knowledge of Dutch is an asset
