What are the responsibilities and job description for the LANDSCAPING ASSOCIATE position at Fisher Island Community Association?
Essential Functions: To perform semi-skilled maintenance and landscape tasks and to operate a wide variety of landscape equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain common areas on island and street medians.
- Water, mow, weed, trim, renovate and fertilize lawns.
- Performs planting and transplanting of grasses and plants according to good horticultural practices
- Spread and places mulch, decorative stones, borders and or other landscape accents as directed.
- Maintain all island trail ways and preserves island wide.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Comply with all Fisher Island standards (i.e., grooming, conducts, policies and procedures).
Education/ Skills/ Work Experience Required:
- High school diploma and one-year preferred experience in landscape maintenance.
- Must possess a valid class D license.
- May be required to operate trucks, aerial trucks, power saws, hand tools, safety equipment and other hydraulic and gas powered equipment.
- Knowledge of methods, tools, materials and equipment used in landscaping work & fertilizers and their applications.
- Ability to learn proper plant & tree care, fertilizing, watering and trimming methods.
- Ability to acquire skill in the use and care of chain saws, edger’s, trimmers, spray tanks and other commonly used tools.
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to permit working overhead, and with equipment or objects weighing over 30 pounds.
- Ability to work independently.
