What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interior Designer position at Fishcamp Custom?
Fishcamp Custom is seeking a full-time designer to join our creative team in Livingston, Montana. The candidate should have experience working closely with clients, contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and foreman as well as creating drawings, schedules, collages, and ordering materials. This position is a rare opportunity to work with a high-end custom home building team on projects in the beautiful Paradise Valley and beyond to create unique, timeless spaces for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client consultations: meet and communicate with clients often to maintain a trusting relationship while working together to make material selections using collages and samples.
- Space planning: create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces within custom homes while considering space requirements, layout, color preferences, lighting, and materials, especially for kitchen and bath designs.
- Material selection: research options and work with vendors for clients on finishes such as lighting fixtures, flooring, plumbing fixtures, appliances, walls, colors, cabinetry, hardware, doors, and other decorative elements to enhance the overall design.
- Project management: manage project schedules, timelines, budgets, and ensure the smooth execution of the design plans.
- Communication and collaboration: work with clients, contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and other professionals to bring the design vision to life.
- Vendor coordination: plan and place orders with vendors while considering lead times, storage requirements, price changes, and quality.
- Drawings: execute design drawings for individual spaces, cabinet orders, and visualizations for clients, such as renderings.
- Fishcamp style: can learn the Fishcamp style of classic western, refined rustic, mountain modern, and adopt to each project.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: completed certified interior design program.
- Previous experience: 2 years of residential interior design experience. Kitchen and bath design knowledge is a plus.
- Design and computer software: proficient in 20/20, InDesign, CAD, Excel. Illustrator and creating renderings is a plus.
- Communication skills: excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed for interacting with clients, vendors, and contractors.
- Portfolio: have a strong portfolio showcasing past design projects and skills to demonstrate capabilities.
- Problem-solving skills: need to be able to identify and solve design challenges and client issues.
- Organizational skills: strong organizational and project management skills are important for managing each aspect of a project effectively.
- Attention to detail: pay close attention to details to create high-quality designs.
