GARDENER (GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER)

$14.40 hourly - $18.46 / 15 hours per week
The State of New Hampshire, NH Fish and Game Department has temporary part-time vacancy for Gardener and Groundskeeper.
Summary:
Maintains gardens at the Great Bay Community Wildlife Garden, Glenn Cove, and the Great Bay Discovery Center. Typically scheduled 15 hours per week.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: 8th grade education
License/Certification: Valid driver’s license
Other Requirements:
1. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards established by the agency
2. Must be available for non-traditional work hours, including early mornings
3. Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including continuous physical exertion such as frequent bending, lifting and climbing
4. Must be able to work in adverse environmental conditions such as wind, rain, and extreme temperatures

Responsibilities:
DETAILED TASKS (AGENCY/POSITION-SPECIFIC):
Maintains various gardens, including watering, weeding and planting.
Greets visitors, answers questions, and interprets the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (GBNERR) gardens.
Assists the GBNERR staff with property clean-up, trash removal, and responding to issues on NH Fish & Game (NHFG) lands.
Assists the GBNERR staff in group workdays on NHFG properties or on properties owned and managed by conservation partners.
Helps maintain interpretive trails and public access areas.
Assists with related maintenance and stewardship activities of lands, facilities, and grounds.
