As a Housekeeping Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for directly managing and ensuring timely completion of the janitorial operations of the janitorial personnel. Specific responsibilities include employee training and orientation of cleaning products, chemicals, equipment, inventory control, quality assurance, maintaining state and federal mandated standards of safety and responding to customer complaints.
Your Responsibilities
- Ensures proper usage of supplies and equipment through the training and development of employees.
- Teaches janitorial staff how to safely operate and maintain all types of cleaning machinery and
- equipment.
- Trains employees how to safely use cleaning chemical and agents.
- Provides safe working environment for employees.
- Responds to emergency situations in a timely and efficient manner.
- Resolves and follow-up on all complaints/issues.
- Conducts building inspections.
- Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and supervises all functions and activities of the custodial department.
- Oversees and evaluates performance of the custodial operations.
- Maintains a safe and secure environment throughout the building/property(s).
- Responsible for recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Supervises, trains and directs janitorial staff through work orders.
- On call availability for emergencies and projects as assigned by property manager.
- Schedules and assigns work responsibilities to employees to meet shift requirements.
- Follows safety procedures and maintains a safe work environment.
- Ability to properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to using this equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Must possess prior experience in janitorial/custodial services.
- Two (2) to three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Computer literacy: Proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft offices applications. Word, Excel spreadsheets, and e-mail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Multiple language fluency is desirable.
- Ability to lift 50 – 100 lbs following appropriate safety procedures;
- Work in an upright standing position for long periods of time (8-12 hours/day)
- Ability to work in different environmental working conditions (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain);
- Walk and climb stairs;
- Handle, finger, grasp and feel objects and equipment;
- Reach with hands and arms;
- Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required to meet the job functions;
- Ability to complete all required forms.
- Ability to work extended/flexible hours and weekends based on project requirement.
- Driving when necessary.
- Ability to respond to emergencies on a timely manner.
- Climb ladders and work at heights above ground level (maximum 3 ft).
- Schedule: Varying Days, 8:00am-4:00pm
