firstPRO is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to take a hands-on role in supporting, maintaining, and advancing our clients core IT infrastructure. This position is responsible for managing Windows and Linux environments, Active Directory, virtualized systems, cloud platforms, and all supporting technologies. In addition to technical ownership, this role contributes to roadmap planning, policy development, lifecycle management, and overall system reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Operations & Engineering
- Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot the full infrastructure portfolio:
- Windows & Linux servers
- Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, Nutanix, KVM)
- Cloud-based systems and services
- Storage, backup, and recovery solutions
- Microsoft-based technologies and business applications
- Identity, authentication, and access management tools
- Monitoring, automation, and performance platforms
- Administer Active Directory, including user and group management, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and authentication services.
- Ensure secure and stable operations of all infrastructure components by managing updates, patches, and system enhancements.
- Design and implement new technologies, upgrades, and process improvements to meet evolving business requirements.
- Build and maintain tools and procedures for proactive monitoring, alerting, and issue remediation.
- Draft and maintain technical documentation, system configurations, project plans, and process workflows.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation to support production environments.
Planning, Budgeting & Roadmap
- Contribute to developing the annual infrastructure roadmap, lifecycle plans, and capital requirements.
- Propose and manage infrastructure projects aligned with organizational priorities.
- Track project deliverables, costs, and schedules to ensure successful outcomes.
- Manage expenses, licensing needs, and capacity planning.
Compliance, Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, licensing terms, and security standards.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
- Implement and maintain policies, controls, and best practices for infrastructure operations.
- Participate in contract reviews and vendor negotiations to secure effective solutions.
- Maintain and test Disaster Recovery plans and ensure proper documentation is kept.
- Identify, prevent, and remediate vulnerabilities across infrastructure systems.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, OR equivalent experience.
- 5 years of system administration or infrastructure engineering experience.
- 3 years hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware ESXi/vSphere, Hyper-V, Citrix Hypervisor, Nutanix AHV, or Linux KVM.
- Strong experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and email administration.
- Proven experience managing Microsoft 365 services (Intune, Autopilot, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online).
- Familiarity with cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
